The community-based private hospital was rebuilt due to the deterioration of the building. Located near JR Sagamihara Station, it boasts a wonderful environment with a lot of greenery, facing the U.S. Army’s Sagami General Depot. The existing hospital opened in 1968 and was later expanded. In 2003, the rehabilitation facility for the elderly opened adjacent to the main facility. Little space remained and there were many restrictions when developing the plan centering on the existing carriage porch area and the site of the expanded building after demolition. The construction work was divided into two phases to continue offering medical treatment and to secure contact with the rehabilitation facility for the elderly. The hospital has beds both for acute medical care and recuperation. Medical treatment functions, such as operating rooms, are allocated in a compact and practical way. The rehabilitation room is made spacious to respond to the future medical demands of society. The dining hall on the top floor is accentuated with windows that extend circularly above the building. As a place for relaxation for staff members and visitors, it provides a scenic and bright space. From the open windows of the hospital rooms, people can enjoy the row of cherry blossom trees in full bloom in spring. We ensured a cozy and positive environment for medical treatment throughout the building.
